Strawberry Shortcake

It's with great excitement that I think I can finally announce my comic book debut! Coming to a shelf near you, premiering on a wednesday, I was asked to be the cover artist for Ape Entertainment's Strawberry Shortcake limited series!

This is the first time li'l Ms. Shortcake has graced a comic book in 25 years!
The best part? It's going to be a "Strawberry Scented" Issue #1 !!!

the process and people have been absolutely incredible to work with, and things have been smooth and enthusiastic. below is a quick sketch/comp and a preview of blueberry-centric #2 !

Very proud to be involved in both comic books as well as once again having an opportunity to make art for children to hopefully enjoy.

** UPDATE: we're a "Staff Pick" in Previews Magazine !!! Read all about it HERE!

thanks, and take care

thanks Scott!
yeah, all vector, which, the way i "click and pull" with the pen tool is super time intensive. since this looks like a regular gig, last week i treated myself to a Wacom! so with some practice i hope to cut that time in half and maintain the same look.

thanks for the kind words, means a lot coming from you!

I'm very much looking forward to the future of this project as well as any opportunities that come from it :)

Awesome work! Hey, and no worries on the "click and pull" technique. Apparently Adam Hughes still colors all his work that way.

thanks everyone!

Chris I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but indeed (as shared at a certain "members only" spot), it has lead to some fun things

Tyler, thanks so much, I can't tell you how encouraging it is to hear that!

a few years ago at a Baltimore Comic Con I went up to Adam Hughes's table and he graciously signed some things for me. I look to my left and he's been shooting the breeze the whole time with none other than Walt Simonson, greatest visionary to grace the pages of Thor. S

o I shake his hand and say "Mr Simonson, it's an honor to meet you sir" to which he leans in, cocks his eye, and says "I'm actually John Byrne in disguise!"
